ABOUT

ABOUT JENNIFER MARCIANO AMATO, Esq.

Jennifer Marciano Amato is a solo practitioner and founder of the firm. Ms. Amato’s practice focuses on management side labor and employment law. In addition to daily counseling on routine employment issues, Ms. Amato regularly assists businesses, predominantly those within the hospitality industry, with developing employment policies and conducts wage and hour audits to ensure compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and state wage hour laws.

Ms. Amato began her career as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor. From 2002 to 2005, she litigated before federal courts and administrative law forums, and worked closely with the Wage and Hour Division and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, prosecuting violations of the FLSA and OSHA. This experience has translated to a wealth of knowledge for business owners who find themselves facing a federal or state investigation or those wishing to ensure compliance with proactive internal audits of compensation practices, including a review of minimum wage and overtime payments, spotting illegal deductions, determining exempt or non-exempt status or independent contractor or employee status. Ms. Amato has worked as an associate at two prominent New York law firms where she performed numerous wage and hour audits for businesses ranging, for example, from investment banks, mortgage brokerage houses, trade associations to food service establishments.
